About this plan
Japan plans run on KDDI (au) or SoftBank, two of Japan's big three networks, sold by the length of your stay.
Direct on SoftBank
This eSIM is a genuine SoftBank SIM, not a reseller's roaming profile. In Japan your phone joins the network directly, like a local customer's, and your connection goes straight to the internet from there.
Most travel eSIMs send everything through a hub in another country, often on another continent, so every page, call and game makes a long round trip. A direct local connection keeps latency low, which is what makes video calls, meetings and online games feel smooth.
Speeds can vary with your phone model and the bands it supports in each country.
