The best eSIM for Europe in 2026: prices compared

September 30, 2026 · Europe

A Europe eSIM replaces your carrier's roaming pass with a local data plan you install before you leave. There are dozens to choose from, and they differ more than the marketing suggests: on price per GB, on which countries count as “Europe”, on what “unlimited” means, and on whether you get a phone number. We compared the popular ones, including our own, using the prices on each provider's site on September 30, 2026.

The short answer

  • Cheapest for a short trip: Haxzu Europe Multi-Network 3 GB, $6.99 for 15 days in 34 countries. Ubigi's 3 GB for $7 over 30 days is the closest rival.
  • Cheapest unlimited: Haxzu Europe Unlimited, $14.99 for 7 days in 42 countries. Airalo, Saily and Holafly charge around $27 for the same week.
  • Need a European number: Haxzu Europe 60 GB, $26.99 with a French number. The others are data only.
  • Lots of data, longer validity: Airalo sells 50 GB valid for 90 days and 100 GB for 180 days, which suits slow travel.

Around 3 GB: a week or two of maps and messaging

ProviderPlanPriceCountries
Haxzu3 GB, 15 days$6.9934
Ubigi3 GB, 30 days$7.0038 listed
Airalo (Eurolink)3 GB, 7 days$11.0041
Nomad3 GB, 30 days$12.0035
Saily3 GB, 30 days$12.4935

Holafly doesn't sell fixed-data plans for Europe, only unlimited days (below). If you need just 1 GB, Saily ($4.99 for 7 days) and Airalo ($5 for 3 days) have smaller plans than we do.

Around 10 GB: a month of normal use

ProviderPlanPrice
Ubigi10 GB, 30 days$15.00
Haxzu10 GB, 30 days$15.99
Nomad10 GB, 30 days$23.00
Airalo (Eurolink)10 GB, 30 days$31.00
Saily10 GB, 30 days$35.99

Ubigi is a dollar cheaper here. If you're a heavier user, our bigger plans drop the price per GB sharply: Europe 50 GB on Vodafone is $20.99 and Europe 200 GB is $39.99 (check the coverage notes, as neither includes Switzerland).

Unlimited data by the day

Provider7 days15 days30 daysFull speed each day
Haxzu Europe Unlimited$14.99$25.99$42.991 GB, then up to 10 Mbps
Ubigi$23.00$35.00$62.0025 GB in total, then 2 Mbps
Saily$26.99$49.99$71.995 GB, then up to 1 Mbps
Airalo$27.00$49.00$71.005 GB, then 1 Mbps
Holafly$27.50$50.50$73.90Fair-use policy may slow you for up to a day

The trade-off is in that last column. Airalo and Saily give you more full-speed data each day, then drop to 1 Mbps, which is slow for anything but messaging. Ours gives 1 GB at full speed, then carries on at up to 10 Mbps, which is still fine for maps, music and standard video. If you stream or tether heavily every single day, the 5 GB plans may suit you better; for most travellers, Europe Unlimited costs about half as much. Nomad sells 5 and 10 days ($19 and $34) with 2 GB a day at full speed.

Phone numbers and hotspot

Every competitor Europe plan we checked is data only. You keep your home number for calls and texts, and use WhatsApp or FaceTime for the rest. If you'd like a local number for restaurants, hotels and taxis, Haxzu Europe 60 GB includes a French number with unlimited calls and texts within Europe.

Hotspot rules differ. Airalo, Saily, Nomad and Ubigi allow tethering; Holafly limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day on its unlimited plans.

Coverage: check the UK, Switzerland and Türkiye

“Europe” ranges from 33 countries (Holafly) to 41 (Airalo). The non-EU countries are where plans differ most. We wrote a separate guide to which plans cover the UK, Switzerland and Türkiye.

Our pick

For a typical one- or two-week trip, start with the $6.99 Europe eSIM and top up if you need more. If you use your phone a lot, the per-day Europe Unlimited plan is the best value we found. And if you want a number people can call, take Europe 60 GB.
