Does a Europe eSIM work in the UK, Switzerland and Türkiye?

“Europe” on an eSIM usually means the EU plus a few neighbours, and the neighbours vary. The three countries that catch people out are the UK, Switzerland and Türkiye. None of them is in the EU, so the EU's roaming rules don't apply, and a plan only works there if its operator has a deal with a local network.

The UK

Since Brexit, EU carriers can charge for roaming in the UK, and some Europe eSIMs simply leave it out. Most of our Europe plans include it; Europe 200 GB on Orange Spain doesn't. If the UK is the main stop, UK Unlimited gives you unlimited data on EE with a UK number, plus roaming in the EU.

Switzerland

Switzerland is the gap people most often discover at the border. Europe 60 GB, Europe Unlimited and the Multi-Network plans include it. Europe 50 GB on Vodafone, Europe 200 GB and Europe 300 GB don't, so skip those if you're crossing the Alps.

Türkiye

Istanbul is often added to a Europe trip. Of our Europe plans, the Multi-Network range and Europe Unlimited include Türkiye, and UK Unlimited's roaming allowance covers it too. For a longer stay there, our Global Select eSIMs cover Türkiye on its own.
